4 Games In : 2010 TFC Blog

Tuesday, April 20th, 2010

We’re 4 games in with Toronto FC.  1 win, 3 losses and 0 improvement.

2-0 loss at Colombus Crew
4-1 loss at New England Revolution
2-1 win vs. Philadelphia Union
3-1 loss at Colorado Rapids

As a season ticket holder, the frustration of continually following this team, that never seems to improve, is a revolving door for apathetic players that don’t seem to want to be here (Nagamura, Casey, Cunningham, Buddle) and end up being stars once they leave (like with the Raptors) is a bit unbearable.  Particularly with an almost 90% increase in season ticket costs.

Seperated (& Ugly) At Birth

Sacha Kljestan and David Bentley, sporting their 'rat-staches' appear to have been seperated at birth.

Sacha Kljestan and David Bentley, sporting their 'rat-staches' appear to have been seperated at birth.

Despite the fact that Toronto FC played like a bunch of toothless, unmotivated ‘recretional’ players against Chivas on Saturday night, (and I say that fully acknowledging that despite not having the skill, a lot of us put in a great deal more effort than they showed), I’d like to turn the conversation to a far more serious and prevalent matter.

I dislike Sasha Kljestan as much as I dislike that Bentley brat.

Finally A Game Worth Watching

Tall people kind of suck! Mind you, I may have enjoyed TFC's performance a bit more than usual because I wasn't able to see it.

Tall people kind of suck! Mind you, I may have enjoyed TFC's performance a bit more than usual because I wasn't able to see it.

TFC ran out 2-0 winners against a much reviled DC United side, whose obnoxious fans continued to wave their flags and clap when O’Brian White put the final nail in DC’s coffin by scoring Toronto’s second.

Note To Visiting Fans:  “Seriously, have some courtesy when you visit BMO field and if your team loses or allows a goal, cry or something.  Maybe drop to the floor and writhe around in agony or something.  Make it worth our while.  We pay a lot for season tickets.”

Argh! The corner flag is MINE!

Argh! The corner flag is MINE!

I know I will be upsetting a lot of people by mentioning this but truthfully I feel it has been long enough.

WHY IS DANNY DICHIO STILL WITH TORONTO?

Scott Jones Fails to Redeem Himself and the World Still Hates Him

Look at that Porn-stache; so circa 1978. (If Noah Delgado was a nut, he'd be a pornstachio nut.)

Look at that Porn-stache; so circa 1978. (If Noah Delgado was a nut, he'd be a pornstachio nut.)

I really don’t know what is worse;  hearing Jason DeVos explain complex soccer strategies to the audience like “…for Toronto to win, their attacking players need to attack and their defensive players need to defend and if the attackers can manage to score a goal then…” (Shoot me please!)

or…

Watching TFC get knocked out of the CONCACAF Champions League by Puerto Rico Islanders, a team who can’t sell out their 10,000+ seat stadium for a Champions League match even though the tickets are like $5.00 a piece, whereas ‘rich-ass’ Toronto, with it’s cheap seats at $30 and climbing, selling out an entire season to 20,000+ fools (I’m one of them) EACH and EVERY game, still can’t manage to spend all that loot on a squad that can accomplish anything.

So Toronto mustered another tie after another miserable display by the team, the MLS officials (2 blown penalties) and of course the commentators… …New England managed to equalize in the final quarter of the match, as is so commonly prone to happen to this TFC team.  Sigh.

Toronto FC lost to a soccer team from a baseballing nation;  that’s just sad.  I’m sorry, it is.  Despite the tepid display and lack of attacking creativity what makes matters worse is the ‘grander outlook’ on the whole debacle.

Think about it!  After last night, all we can be sure of is that there were 14 guys with orange socks that obviously play soccer in Puerto Rico;  as far as we know, they could be the ONLY ones aside from Marco Velez.  Just the 15 of them, and no one else.

Is this a still from Semi-Pro or a Columbus player?

Is this a still from Semi-Pro or a Columbus player?

Who is the Will Ferrell looking twerp in the photo above?  Seriously.  Someone on Colombus, I don’t care who, anyone at all, needs to point out to Lenhart that his hair, is ridiculous.  While I do like Will Ferrell, Lenhart is NOT nearly as funny and his blatant foul on Adrian Serioux and subsequent dive in the Toronto box did very little in the way of endearing him to myself or any other TFC supporters.
