Free Chiropractic Assessments For BAS Members

Wednesday, August 1st, 2012

A Healing Place is offering Free Chiropractic Assessments to all BAS Members from August 1st to September 30th, 2012.  As the playoffs approach and we all look to close our seasons out on a strong and healthy note, a visit to Dr. Naeha Sareen, AHP’s in-house chiropractor, can really help deal with any number of the following fitness concerns:

Plantar Fasciitis - Foot and Heel PainPlantar Fasciitis is a condition that commonly results from ‘over-use’ and ‘high-level impact’ (on firm ground) of the plantar fascia ligament on the underside of your foot.  The most common symptom is heel pain, particularly first thing in the morning.

Shin Splints - lower leg painShin Splints is another ‘over-use’ and ‘high-impact’ condition, only this time effecting the muscle tissue around the tibia through repeated trauma.  Failing to consult a chiropractor or physician can potentially lead to further damage such as stress fractures on the tibia itself.

Knee and Ankle Strain - pain from impact and over useOne of the most common injuries to afflict soccer players are strain and impact injuries to leg joints.  As soccer players, our ankles and knees are particularly prone, not only to wear and tear from playing on Brampton’s concrete-hard, uneven fields, but also to directional strains and impact based injuries from tackles and the general type of contact that comes from playing a contact sport.

Neck Strain - over-use and impact related injuries and pain from heading the soccer ballNeck strain can result from repeated heading of the ball and we all know how annoyed our team mates get if we avoid heading the ball to spare our necks.  There’s no need to point out to anyone that neck injuries can be serious health risks, so if you’re feeling any tightening or soreness, a visit to the chiropractor can not only alleviate any symptoms you already have, but provide you with methods and techniques to help strengthen your neck muscles to aid in preventing future or repeat injuries.

Here in Brampton, and this is my opinion exclusively, we’re prone to more injuries than average because we’re playing on clay-based fields that hold no water, don’t promote proper grass growth and end up as hard as concrete.  At least 15-20% of the players I know are wearing their indoor turf shoes instead of their outdoor cleats, in hopes of sparing themselves a bit of needless foot, ankle and knee pain.

That said, as members of BAS, we’ve now got a former soccer player that’s looking to help out and offering free assessments to any BAS members.  To take advantage of this opportunity simply contact A Healing Place Clinic at 905-459-4385 and book an appointment with Dr. Naeha Sareen, AHP’s in-house chiropractor.  When booking your appointment, simply tell the person you’re speaking with that you’re with BAS or Brampton Adult Soccer.

Dr. Sareen and A Healing Place accept insurance and benefit plans.

Peel Regional Police Toys For Tots Drive

Long time BASer, and past featured member, Jessica Fletcher, will be collecting toys over the next few weeks for the Peel Regional Police’s Toys for Tots toy drive.

  • Toys must be brand new, unwrapped for boys or girls of any age.
  • Collection of toys will end Wednesday, December 14th, 2011.
  • To arrange a pick-up or drop off time at the Brampton Soccer Centre please email “Fletch” at fletch_004@hotmail.com

“Toys for Tots” is a charitable endeavour which was initiated by the Peel Regional Police in 1993, in partnership with the Salvation Army and Canadian Tire. During the months of November and December off duty members of Peel Regional Police volunteer several hundred hours to collect cash, Canadian Tire money, and new unwrapped toys donated by the public which are used to purchase or give as Christmas gifts for many children in need. ~ from the Peel Regional Police Website
